I was delighted to be asked to shoot Deanna & Greg’s wedding. She’s been a neighbour for years and I’ve watched Sydney grow up from toddler to beautiful young lady. It was a second marriage for both, an intimate country wedding in the tiny hamlet of Nightingale – a pretty country drive east of Calgary.
Met Pastor Dawn who, with 258 weddings under her belt, runs a tight ship. The ‘ship’ comes complete with a water pistol in her pocket to prevent fainters. She’s proud to say that hasn’t happened since her first wedding. During rehearsal, the bridal party is informed the pistol is there. If one of them starts to look pale, she moves her hand to the pocket which normally causes them to laugh, inhale a breath of air, and the faint moment passes.
The bridal party consisted of Greg’s two sons and Deanna’s mom and daughter. The ceremony was personal and relevant. The turquoises bright and cheerful. Deanna looked a dream in an elegant off-the-shoulder gown. We immediately headed to an abandoned barn Deanna had scoped out in advance for the bridal party shots. The champagne was popped slightly prematurely – but captured nonetheless. Mother nature cooperated with a combination of blue sky and sunshine, then soft grey Chinook clouds.
And here’s the sneak-a-peek…
